Why is wedding photography so expensive?
If you would like the detailed explanation, check out our blog in the subject. The short answer is that you are paying for experience, expenses and many hours of work that you don’t see. The 4-10 hours spent at the ceremony can easily become 50 hours when editing and consultation are taken into account.
What equipment do you use?
While equipment is a lot less important than the skill of the photographer, that doesn’t mean that professional equipment in the right hands can’t make a difference. We use the latest professional Nikon equipment (Z9s currently) and professional large aperture lenses, which are excellent in low light and give the pleasing shallow-depth-of-field look. Memory cards can fail, and cheaper cameras often have only 1 memory card slot. Professional cameras record all images to 2 memory cards simultaneously, which greatly reduces the risk of loss of your images.
Why don’t you include more in your packages?
Many photographers offer packages that include engagement shoots, premium albums, prints etc. The truth is that these aren’t free, their cost is baked into the package cost. My philosophy is that you are paying for my time and experience, and that you should be free to choose what additional services you require.
Do you charge a deposit? When is final payment due?
When you are ready to commit to a date, we will ask you to sign a contract and pay a deposit to secure the date. The deposit is 30% of the total cost and can be paid by check, card, PayPal or payment app. We’ll send out instructions with the contract. The final 70% must be paid 30 days before the date of the wedding.
